2026 Municipal General Election
TOWN OF CUTLER BAY
NOVEMBER 3, 2026 GENERAL ELECTION
The Town is divided into three residential districts as described in Section 2.3 of the Town Charter which requires that one Councilmember reside in SEAT 1, SEAT 2 and SEAT 3. Candidates for the Office of Mayor and Vice Mayor are elected without regard to residence in a particular residential area. A person may not be a candidate for a residential Councilmember seat unless that person has resided in the residential area continuously for a period of one year preceding the qualifying date. All seats are voted on a Town-wide basis regardless of the residing residential district, but Councilmembers must reside within the boundaries of the seat for which they are a candidate. Those elected to office serve a four (4) year term. The following offices need to be filled on November 3, 2026:
Mayor: Incumbent - Mayor Tim Meerbott (Termed Out)
Council Seat 1: Incumbent - Councilmember Robert "BJ" Duncan
Council Seat 3: Incumbent - Councilmember Richard M. Ramirez
QUALIFYING PERIOD
Pursuant to Town Ordinance 25-01 the qualifying period for this year begins at noon on Thursday, July 23, 2026 and ends at noon on Thursday, August 6, 2026. All candidates must qualify for the Tuesday, November 3, 2026 election in the Office of the Town Clerk, 10720 Caribbean Boulevard, Suite 105, Cutler Bay, Florida.
The following items and fees shall be filed with the Town Clerk prior to the end of the qualifying period (August 6, 2026 at Noon) in order to qualify to be placed on the ballot for the November 3, 2026 General Election:
- Provided proof of Voter’s Registration
- Affidavit of Candidacy and Residency, Notarized & Driver’s License
- Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository Form DS-DE 9
- Statement of Candidate DS-DE 84
- Voluntary Statement of Fair Campaign Practices
- Declaration for Candidates Not Automatically Covered by County Ordinance 98-94
- Oath of Candidate DS-DE 302NP
- Form 1 Statement of Financial Interests [To be filed electronically via the Electronic Financial Disclosure Management System (EFDMS)]
- Qualifying Fee of $100.00 (Paid by Campaign Account)
- State Election Assessment (Paid by Campaign Account). One percent of annual salary ($218.80 for Mayor – annual salary is $21,880.08, $109.40 for Councilmembers – annual salary is $10,939.56)
