Contractors for the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works South Dade TransitWay project are beginning pre-construction activities. These activities will be limited to clearing and grubbing, tree removal/relocation, surveying, geotechnical and environmental testing, and construction of temporary facilities to facilitate future phases of construction for the Bus Rapid Transit station project.

These activities are scheduled to continue through Summer 2021 and will take place at the following locations within the South Dade TransitWay: NE 2nd Drive/Civic Court, Marlin Road, SW 152nd Street/Coral Reef Drive, and SW 177th Avenue/Krome Avenue.

At no time will these activities interrupt businesses, require lane closures, limit pedestrian access along shared-use path or interrupt current bus schedules and/or routes.

Additionally, temporary bus shelters will soon be installed at Marlin Road NB and Coral Reef Drive, in both southbound and northbound directions, prior to the future demolition of the existing bus shelters. Once the public is notified and the temporary facilities are installed, the existing shelters will be scheduled for demolition. Passengers will be directed to use the new temporary bus shelters until project construction is completed and the final stations are placed in service.

The 20-mile TransitWay stretches from the SW 344th Street Park & Ride terminal station in the south to the Dadeland South Metrorail station in the north. The South Corridor is one of the six corridors identified in the Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) plan.
