Golf Cart Registration

The Town of Cutler Bay has encouraged and made provisions for the use of golf carts on Town maintained roads since 2010 (Town Ordinance 10-03).  The Town’s adopted 2014 Transportation Master Plan recommended that the Town examine Town Ordinance 10-03 (Adopted 2/17/10) in an effort to increase access to all roads within the Town for golf cart users. This offers an environmentally friendly alternative to cars for short distance trips.  During the 2015 State Legislative session, the Mayor and Town Council coordinated with State Representatives to advocate for changes to Florida Statutes Chapter 316: State Uniform Traffic Control to allow the operation of a golf cart on designated county owned roads that are within the jurisdiction of a municipality.

The Town is proud to report that as a result of our efforts, the Florida Statutes 316.212(1) was updated to improve access for golf carts within the Town's municipal boundaries!  On November 18, 2015, the Town Council adopted Ordinance 15-08 to comply with Florida Statutes 316.212(1) and updated Town Code Section 30-422 as it relates to Chapter 30 “Traffic and Motor Vehicles Regarding Golf Cart Use on Streets within the Town”.

In order to operate golf carts on Town roads, residents are required to register their golf cart at the Town Hall and receive a Golf Cart Permit.

How do I register my golf cart?

Submit the following (required forms are linked below): 

  • A completed Golf Cart Registration Form to the Town
  • Notarized Golf Cart Registration Affidavit demonstrating that the golf cart meets all state law requirements prior to operating on designated streets
  • Proof of insurance (the Town does not determine the amount of coverage)
  • $60 one-time permit fee (no cash payments will be accepted)
  • Bring your completed Golf Cart Permit Application, Notarized Affidavit, Proof of Insurance, Valid Driver’s License, and $60 one-time permit fee to Town Hall (10720 Caribbean Boulevard, Suite 105, Cutler Bay, FL 33189) from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Affix your Town-issued Golf Cart Registration Permit to the rear fender of your Golf Cart

Where can I drive my golf cart?

Golf Carts are allowed on all streets within the Town’s municipal boundaries except the following;

  • US-1/S. Dixie Highway
  • Florida Turnpike
  • Caribbean Blvd. (US-1 to SW 107 Ave)
  • Marlin Rd (US-1 to Sterling Dr)
  • SW 97 Ave (SW 212 St to SW 216 St)
  • SW 211 St. (SW 112 Ave to SW 107 Ave)
  • SW 216 St. (Old Cutler Rd to SW 87 Ave)

Additionally, your Golf Cart Permit allows you to operate your golf cart on the local roads of the Village of Palmetto Bay. Please direct any questions or concerns regarding operating a golf cart in the Village of Palmetto Bay to their Village staff.
