Join our Environmental Task Force Text

Help shape our town into a greener, more sustainable community by joining our newly created Environmental Task Force!

This Task Force will advise the Town Council on sustainability and resiliency policies and programs, and develop a plan that identifies projects that will make our town more resilient and sustainable.

Some of the topics and projects that the Task Force may go over include items like the threat of sea level rise, storm surge, our tree canopy, risks posed by invasive species, and much more.

Member Qualifications

We are looking for a total of 5 Cutler Bay residents to join with the following qualifications:

  • 3 residents with experience, training, or knowledge in environmental science
  • 1 resident with service experience in the education system
  • 1 resident who is an active member of the business community

Task Force Objectives

The Task Force will:

  1. Identify, study, and recommend policies and programs that strengthen the Town’s sustainability and resiliency; and
  2. Develop a report that identifies a short-term, medium-term, and long-term project that will make the Town a more sustainable and resilient municipality, prioritizing natural and/or structural improvements within the Town

Four months after its creation, the Task Force will present to the Town Council a status update on the development of the report.

Task Force Meetings and Timeline

The Task Force will meet once a month, on a regular date and time each month as designated by the majority of the Task Force members. Regular meetings shall be conducted within a two-hour period of time, unless members decide to extend the meeting.

The Task Force remain in existence until the Town Council deems the Task Force’s work to be complete, or nine months after delivery of the report, whichever occurs first.
