Cutler Bay Hosts Protect, Prepare, Grow Workshop to Support Local Small Businesses

CUTLER BAY, FL - May 27, 2026 - The Town of Cutler Bay hosted its Protect, Prepare, Grow Small Business Workshop on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Cutler Bay Town Hall. The free workshop was held in partnership with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and TD Bank as part of the Town’s Small Business Month efforts.

The workshop brought together local small business owners and entrepreneurs for practical guidance on business safety, crime prevention, and financing options. Representatives from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office discussed the Real-Time Operations Center, the camera-integration program for businesses, and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). Topics included lighting, visibility, access control, signage, landscaping, maintenance, and other simple steps businesses can take to reduce opportunities for crime and improve safety.

TD Bank also provided an overview of access to capital and the 5 C’s of Credit: Character, Capacity, Capital, Collateral, and Conditions. The presentation helped business owners better understand what banks review during financing requests, how to prepare for lending conversations, and what resources may be available to support business growth.

“Small businesses are an essential part of Cutler Bay, and this workshop was about giving them practical tools they can use right away,” said Town Manager Rafael G. Casals. “By bringing together our partners at the Miami Dade Sheriff’s Office and TD Bank, we were able to connect business owners with information that can help them protect their properties, prepare for future opportunities, and continue growing in our community.”

The workshop also included remarks from Councilmembers Suzy Lord and Rick Ramirez, who both emphasized the importance of providing local businesses with direct access to resources, subject-matter experts, and opportunities for continued learning.
