Cutler Bay Public Works Director Alfredo Quintero Jr. Named 2026 Public Works Director of the Year

Cutler Bay, FL - April 22, 2026 – The Town of Cutler Bay is proud to announce that Public Works Director Alfredo Quintero Jr. was named the 2026 Public Works Director of the Year at the American Public Works Association (APWA) Florida Public Works Expo in Tampa. This prestigious honor, voted on by his peers, recognizes career excellence, leadership, and community service among public works professionals with more than 20 years of experience.
The award was presented during the 2026 APWA Florida Public Works Expo, held April 6 through April 9, 2026, at the Tampa Convention Center. The annual event brings together public works professionals from across Florida and the Southeast to share ideas, strengthen their expertise, and explore new technologies and industry’s best practices.
This recognition is especially meaningful because it was voted on by Alfredo’s peers, making it a distinguished honor among public works leaders across the state. The award highlights directors who have made significant contributions to the profession, the American Public Works Association, and the communities they serve. Alfredo has also served as President of the APWA South Florida Branch, further reflecting his longstanding leadership and impact within the profession.
“Alfredo’s leadership has helped define the standard of excellence we strive for in Cutler Bay,” said Mayor Tim Meerbott. “This recognition from his peers speaks volumes. It reflects not only his deep knowledge and professionalism, but also the pride and care he brings to serving our residents every day.”
Town Manager Rafael Casals said the award reflects Alfredo’s longstanding commitment to the profession and to the residents of Cutler Bay.
“Alfredo has built a reputation for delivering results, leading with integrity, and always keeping the community first,” said Casals. “For him to be recognized by fellow public works directors from across Florida makes this honor even more special. We are proud to see his work and dedication recognized at this level.”
Since joining the Town of Cutler Bay in 2012, Alfredo has helped lead and deliver projects that have had a lasting impact on the community. Under his leadership, the Town has continued to advance infrastructure, drainage, transportation, and resiliency initiatives that improve residents' quality of life and strengthen the community for the future. Since joining the Town, Alfredo has been recognized for overseeing more than 30 award-winning projects in Cutler Bay, underscoring his experience, vision, and dedication to the community.
His recognition also reflects the Town’s broader commitment to thoughtful planning, strong public service, and the delivery of projects that make a real difference.
