Neighborhood Resource Unit (NRU)

Cutler Bay Police

The Neighborhood Resource Unit (NRU) consists of one sergeant and four officers who address quality of life issues, community concerns, school safety and work closely with Town’s Parks and Recreations Staff during main events. The NRU also conduct home and business security surveys upon request.

The NRU is responsible for the coordination of community policing-related activities and ensures that the interest, goals, ideas and input of the community are regularly communicated to police command staff, the town manager, community groups and involved citizens. The NRU reinforces the community policing philosophy, which is consistent with practiced strategies by the Miami-Dade Police Department. Additionally, the NRU coordinates school presentations and work in association with Miami-Dade County Public Schools with the goal of creating and maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for students, teachers and staff. NRU officers teach a number of programs such as anti-bullying, drug awareness, and safe driving.

The NRU is an extension of the Miami-Dade Police Department’s dedication to our community policing philosophy, in that NRU officers possess the skills necessary to build relationships, solve problems and enforce laws; while focusing on quality of life issues and community concerns. NRU officers accomplish this on a daily basis by being proactive and community driven.
