The Town Clerk organizes and oversees all elections within the Town of Cutler Bay.
Any citizen who is a qualified elector and a resident of the Town, for at least two (2) years preceding the date of filing may be a candidate for the office of office of mayor, vice-mayor or council member.
Although the Town Clerk organizes and oversees all elections taking place within the Town of Cutler Bay, the Miami-Dade County Elections Department is in charge of printing ballots, providing voting equipment and monitors, and tallying voting results. Elections 2010 MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS – 2010 A candidate shall qualify for the 2010 municipal election in the Office of the Town Clerk, Town of Cutler Bay, 10720 Caribbean Boulevard, Suite 425, Cutler Bay, Florida. Candidates may qualify for Mayor, Seat 1 and Seat 3. The qualifying period for these offices will begin at 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 5, 2010 and end at 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 19, 2010 pursuant to Ordinance 09-18. All candidates must file their qualifying papers with the Town Clerk during this time period. The following will be necessary for the filing of candidacy: - Form 1 “Statement of Financial Interest” A copy of this form must be filed unless one has already been filed in the past year. If one has already been filed in the past year, please provide the Office of the Town Clerk with a copy.

- Qualifying Fee Pursuant to Section 2.4 of the Town Charter, a fee in the amount of $100.00, payable to the Town of Cutler Bay from a campaign account, must be provided to the Town Clerk at the time of qualifying.

- Two Year Residency Affidavit Section 2.4 of the Town Charter requires candidates to be electors of the Town of Cutler Bay and have resided in the Town (and in the respective Residential Area from which the candidate may seek to qualify for election) for at least two year preceding the date of filing.

The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. Any candidate receiving a number of votes greater than fifty percent (50%) of the total of ballots cast shall be duly elected at such election. A Runoff Election, if necessary, will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. The ballot for the runoff election shall contain the names of the two candidates for each Council seat who received the most votes in the general election. Any citizen who is a qualified elector of Miami-Dade County and a resident of the Town of Cutler Bay for at least one year preceding the date of filing may be a candidate for the Town Council. The Town is divided into three Residential Areas. One councilmember must reside in the Western Area (Seat 1), one in the Northern Area (Seat 2) and one in the Southern Area (Seat 3). To view the Council District Map please click below. An additional councilmember (Vice Mayor) and the mayor shall be elected without regard to residence in any particular Residential Area. Candidates running for a particular Residential Area (Seats 1, 2 and 3) must be a resident of the Residential Area they propose to represent on the Town Council at the time of qualifying, at the time of their election and must continue to reside in such Residential Area during the term of office. A General Election is held in each even-numbered year on the day of the U.S. Congressional elections (the first Tuesday of November). Any candidate receiving a number of votes greater than fifty percent (50%) of the total of ballots cast shall be duly elected at such election. A Runoff Election, if necessary, shall be held on the third Tuesday of November. The ballot for the runoff election shall contain the names of the two candidates for each Council seat who received the most votes in the general election. The candidates receiving the most votes in the Runoff Election shall be duly elected. The duly elected councilmembers shall serve a four year term that will commence at 12:00 noon on the day following the date of the general or runoff election in which they are elected. Members of the Town Council do receive compensation pursuant to Section 2.6 of the Town Charter.
