Mayor Peggy Bell has served Cutler Bay since it was incorporated in 2006. Peggy and her husband, Marty, married thirty five years, have lived in Cutler Bay for over thirty years. They have a son attending college. Mayor Bell retired from a career in aviation, having worked for Eastern Airlines and Pan Am World Airways. She and her husband are small business owners, operating a tree nursery. Mayor Bell works for the town full time.
Mayor Bell was a founding member of the Cutler Ridge Area Steering Committee. She co-founded United Citizens of Cutler Bay, to promote the new town. A former PTSA president and 4H leader, she holds a Florida realtor license and serves as Vice President on a local board of directors.
She has served as Town Council liaison on several citizen advisory committees, including Parks and Recreation, a standing committee since 2006 and the newly formed Youth Council Committee.
Among other accomplishments, Peggy played an instrumental role in acquiring a 73 acre park and eight million dollars in funding from Miami-Dade County to develop the park, which more than doubled the park space in the Town of Cutler Bay.
