Town Parks to Remain Closed Until Further Notice

You may have heard that Miami-Dade County will be partially reopening their parks tomorrow, April 29, with restrictions. The reasons many of you visit Town parks is because of their great amenities that include:

  • Playground equipment
  • Picnic shelters/pavilions
  • Outdoor exercise equipment
  • Swimming Pool facility
  • Sport fields for games and/or practices
  • Picnic tables for family gatherings /parties

However, all of the above amenities ARE PROHIBITED for use under Miami-Dade County Emergency Order # 21-20 (click here to read the full order).

In addition, Miami-Dade Parks have added the following restrictions in order to visit County Parks:

  • Facial coverings must be worn by park patrons, except children under the age of 2
  • Groups of 10 or more may not congregate
  • One-way flow only on park trails and walkways

Based on the above restrictions—and keeping the safety of our residents our number one goal—until we can ensure the proper enforcement of said restrictions, we have decided to keep all our Town parks closed until further notice.

We encourage everyone to continue using the great network of sidewalks, bike paths and shared use paths in Town (along SW 87th Avenue, Old Cutler Road, Caribbean Blvd, and within your neighborhoods). Walking, Running, Cycling, and other recreational activities may be continued and do not require a facial covering, as long as a minimum of 6 feet is kept between those not living within the same household.

Please note that the County has also announced marinas and golf courses will open tomorrow, April 29, with restrictions—that includes Black Point Marina and Palmetto Bay Golf Course (both are located outside of Town limits).
